Ok, Don’t Look Now, but it’s Mid-July!!

What are your plans for getting in on the end of summer marketing blitzes out there for your business??

This is a follow-up to our last post concerning the Summer Olympics that are happening this year in Rio.

The Games start on Friday, August 5th and conclude on Sunday, August 21st. If you don’t move on this you lose!
The Olympic Games are divided into a summer and winter game, switching off every 2 years. With over 10,000 athletes partaking in the summer event alone, this is a special event that businesses do not want to miss out on.
When the Summer Olympics took place in London 2012, Google Trends saw searches for Olympic-related topics rise nearly 100 fold.

This is a great time to take advantage of this year’s enthusiasm about the games as fans not only gear up to watch the events, but they will also be searching for information about their favorite athletes, teams of choice that will be taking part in the Summer Games, of 2016. If your aim is to reach a broad audience with your games-related messaging, you’ll be limiting your reach if you only target the sports fans. It’s not just the sports fans who tune into the games. More than 1 in 3 people who say they rarely or never watch any sporting events report that they plan to watch the Summer Games.” According to the Google Consumer Survey, U.S., Apr. 2016

Since the event is scheduled in August, it is a good idea to be pushing out content and promotions the month before and rally up for the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Another good non-national holiday is the; Get to Know Your Customers Day (July 21)

As any good business knows you should be making an effort every day to connect with your customers, there is a special day dedicated for doing that! Get to Know Your Customers Day is observed annually on the third Thursday of EACH QUARTER- (January, April, July, October). This July is next quarter to show your customers some love and appreciation.

Show your customers that they mean a great deal to you with a few of these ideas:
– Discounts and specials through email newsletters – One of the easiest ways of letting your customers know is to offer a special discount or promotion, just for them! These are the customers who are subscribed to email newsletters, who look forward to what your business has to offer or say. Surprise them with a heartfelt note that expresses your gratitude for them, and offer a special discount catered to them.

– Reward your fans and followers on social media – Those who have liked your page on Facebook or follow your online presence are fans of your company. Take a moment to thank them, or even offer a special FB/Twitter/Instagram code for a discount. Offer a product giveaway contest to a lucky fan. Make sure to include tagging and hashtags requirements to get the word out to others about your contest.

Some Other ways to get to know or appreciate your customers:
– Raffles & Other Giveaways- This is nothing new, but to generate some end of summer excitement, now is the time to break out some incentives to pass along to your loyal customers. Make the contest fun and try and be interactive. This is easier done using your social media skills to generate interest and excitement amongst your followers!

– Customer Loyalty Program- If you haven’t thought about initiating a rewards program, you should be looking at this selling point pretty seriously. Most stats show that your customers spend a portion of their time looking for rewards programs and will consistently purchase from those store retailers that have such a program in place. After all, they want your product, but if they can get a better deal or money off coupon code, or free shipping, just who do you think they will buy from if the products are exactly the same?? Really this is a no brainer. Wheather you choose to offer a “Member’s Discount” a “Frequent Buyers Club” incentive or just a plain coupon, redeemable at your checkout for those customers that have met a certain level of purchase requirements. You will end up getting the repeat customer more often than not, and those customers like to tell their friends about a good deal, so you get the added bonus of word of mouth traffic that can replicate itself again and again.

So, since July is really about half way over, what are you going to do to make sure your capitalizing on each and every day left… And when the Summer Olymipics are over, what are your plans for launching your “Fall Season” deals? Well, that’s another post.
